the greatest asset of skyler's persona is his perseverance. coupled with his stubborn attitude, he has an iron will that leaves little room for failure or mistakes. once he dedicates himself to an objective, there is nothing that can be done to sway his mission to achieve his goal. this is not to say he is always successful, but if he falls along his journey, he always stands back up to keep moving forward. his constant string of aspirations and attempts at working toward them separates himself from others his age, as he prefers to work alone in his attempts at achievement.

once you begin to understand skyler, the easier it is to befriend him. pokemon are his life, and becoming a master is his ultimate goal. he prefers to do it alone, but sometimes even he has to admit he needs a little aid on his quest. those that are willing to help him grow as a trainer have a better chance of catching a glimpse of skyler's smile or his warm laughter. he masks his nurturing and kind heart behind a thick layer of indifference, but opening him up only takes a battle or two, and once you do, you begin to see him in a totally different light.

his mother passed on to him a heart of gold. he is brave, and sacrifice and failure mean little to him. if a stranger was standing beside him, and a robbery took place, he would take a bullet to save their life, then push past the pain to drop kick the shooter. if anything gets under his skin it is bullies or rude people. there has been more than one occasion he has gotten into trouble with the law for fighting others over something they did or said. quite often he can be caught displaying his hero complex.

along with his bravery comes a powerful sense of adventure, and deep underwater caves or mysterious forests always seem to beckon him in for a little danger. when it comes to pokemon, skyler has shown a strong desire to help them grow, but is not merciless when he does so. when a pokemon is hurt, his own or another's, he will selflessly work to nurture it back to full health before pursuing his own interests.

THE NEGATIVE: stubborn - distant - territorial - aggressive - impulsive - detached - impatient - fierce - blunt - tempermental

for the most part, skyler is a typical teenager, with all the negative strings attached. when you first come to meet him he is rather reserved, and is often mistaken for giving the cold-shoulder to those around him. his greatest flaw would be the ridiculous amount of time he spends trying to increase his strength as a trainer and as a swordsmen. he has little regard for his own safety, and his relentless and sometimes ferocious intensity often lands him in the hospital from training too hard.

he doesn't maintain a wide group of friends, but those that are close to him note his overbearing mission to protect them from danger. he is territorial, and even the smallest spark of anger can lead him to pulverizing an intruder within his, or his friend's space. it takes a lot of pushing and agitation for him to reach such a point, but once you cross that threshold he is a brutal enemy to behold.

when something is bothering skyler, he doesn't like to show his weakness to others. instead, he will bury his emotions and feelings deep down. this usually results in delayed explosions of emotion that catch those around him off guard. often enough, skyler suffers from headaches when he is covering up or hiding his feelings from others, and can sometimes fall into intense periods of stress or depression as a result of this.

[/b]: gladius is skyler's primary training partner, as he can use the pokemon's bladed arms to combat againt with his katana. originally attained in a pokemon catching contest, gladius has grown to become a valuable asset and companion to sky.[/ul]

So, everything looks totally awesome except for the fact that, for a gym leader, three of his pokemon are on the 'rare' list and only one (Farfetch'd) is actually the kind of flying-type pokemon one would find in a flying-type gym. I would suggest adding more generic flying types and maybe one or two flying+other types.
